Isolation Bases

J.P. Environmental Products Inc. isolation bases are designed to meet the needs of most industrial and commercial machine/ drive mounting applications. All types can be supplied for isolator attachment or for direct foundation bolting. Type BWS, BCI, and BSI bases can also be used as structural assembly platforms for equipment with independent mounted motors. When isolation bases are coupled together with J. P. high efficiency isolators and mounts, equipment can now be located in vibration sensitive areas not otherwise possible.

J. P. has established itself as a supplier of highly engineered silencing and isolation related products for industry. Our corporate philosophy of providing customers with the service they expect and the products they need, has made this possible. We guarantee this same level of service and product integrity in our BRC, BWS, BCI, and BSI.

Base Alternatives

All isolation bases manufactured by J. P. are individually engineered at time of order to meet the specific structural and vibration control needs of the application. Bases are designed to 'fit' the dimensions of the equipment and the specified isolation or hold down requirements, and are complete with all necessary mounting holes. Primed steel finish is provided on every base. Special coating systems are available, upon request.

BRC Isolation Rails and Channels: represent the most economical way of supporting a self contained machine/drive combination. BRC rails and channels are ideal for matching of standard equipment with predefined site hold down positions or for locating isolators/mounts at key load points. Structural steel angle rails (for lighter units) and "C" channels (for heavier units) provide the strength necessary to ensure total rigidity.

BWS Welded Steel Bases: for integration of equipment with independently mounted motors up to Fr. No. 447T and larger (direct or belt drive). All BWS bases utilize continuously welded structural steel between 4" and 12" depending on static and dynamic loading and the drive horsepower. During design, the machine and motor torques are always taken into account to ensure proper drive alignment.

BCI Concrete Inertia Bases: for applications where increased mass is required to reduce equipment/drive vibration amplitude. BCI bases are supplied with "C" channel concrete retaining outer members (minimum 6"), welded reinforcement lattice (12" ctrs standard), and equipment mounting templates welded to the outer members. The Type BCI base is the most economical concrete inertia alternative.

Concrete Inertia Bases

BSI Combination Steel/ Inertia Bases: provide the rigid steel structure of the Type BWS base and the inertial properties of the Type BCI base. Primarily for use with heavy industrial equipment subject to high vibration, BSI combination bases are supplied with continuously welded structural steel "C" channel (minimum6"), welded reinforcement lattice (12" ctrs standard), and are complete with a steel pan under the entire base, for the pouring of concrete. Full height, drilled channels are positioned under all equipment/drive hold down locations to ensure structural integrity.

  • Adjustable Type MTB Mototilt automatic tensioning motor bases (refer to Bulletin MI-88)

Custom Bases:
J.P. Environmental Products Inc. expertise has been applied up to and including a 375,000 pound custom designed seismic combination steel/inertia base. When faced with a situation with special requirements, contact us for a solution which works.

Selection Guide

The selection of an appropriate base type, thickness, and inertial mass (if required), for a given application is dependent on:

  • machine drive size and weight
  • frequency and amplitude of dynamic forces
  • size of drive motor
  • permissible vibration limits
  • nature of the supporting structure (i.e.. location, type, spans, etc.)

The following tables can be applied to make initial base selections using a simplified set of criteria. Contact your J. P. representative for a detailed selection based on all factors specific to your application.
